Lorah Yaccarino, is a composer, guitarist and sound designer. She first picked up the guitar at age 12 when she began her studies at the Brooklyn Academy of music, and later continued at the American Institute of Guitar in Manhattan. She has been active as a musician for over 30 years, contributing to Off-Broadway and multi-media performances as well as founding and performing with her own groups. In 1989 Lorah became interested in the effects of music and sound on the healing process. This led her to several pilgrimages to England and the Mediterranean. Here she explored ancient sacred sites, capturing on tape the ambient sounds of primeval temples on the islands of Malta and Greece, as well as the stone circles of Cornwall. Inspired by this pulse of sound, Lorah formed the group Ritual Motion and in 1995 released the album Feel It. This CD is a tribute to the many Goddess energies associated with these ancient places.

Wanting to have a scientific basis for healing and sound as well, Lorah began to explore the use of general dynamics in her work. Simply put a general dynamics chart graphs the vibrations created by musical notes, base colors. and brain wave states as measured by hertz ranges. For example middle °ßC° corresponds vibrational to the color red and the brain wave state of Beta. She began to notice where music would effect a person when played in different keys as well as the intervals used to compose the melody. She next formulated Greek modes as well as Indian Raga's into her compositions while searching for the optimal balance between form and improvisation. While studying an alternative to western medicine Lorah discovered an expanded Chakra system similar to what is used in Indian medicine as well as Chinese acupuncture. However, this system instead of using 7 energy centers had twelve as well as corresponding colors and vowel sounds. In February of 1999 she with her new group Sacred Fire recorded a live performance at The Rhinebeck Center for the performing arts using this expanded Chakra system as the framework for her intriguing new compositions.

Currently Lorah has released a third CD with her band SACRED FIRE ,titled Unravel The Moon. Recorded completely live in the studio, the music on this CD experiments with spoken word and melody in an improvisational format. One segment in a piece called Guns Don°t Kill uses the chilling news broadcast of a six year old killing his classmate as a backdrop for the cathartic release of the group°s despair over losing our children to guns and violence. The resulting creations are dynamic and poignant soundscapes, as the music moves you through places of intense emotion and serene beauty.
